Learn More 60th Year Anniversary of RBA!
C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S!
Sixty years of servicing the financial need of the community of Antipolo is indeed a milestone for the Rural Bank of Antipolo. This Bank was issued a Certificate of Authority to operate as a Rural Bank on 27th January, 1962 under Governor Gilbert Wilson of then Central Bank of the Philippines under Republic Act No. 720 approved and made into law on June 6, 1952. The act purports to promote and expand the rural economy in an orderly and effective manner by providing the people of the rural communities with the means of facilitating and improving their productive activities.
As the story goes, Dr. Lusito R. Lopez, the founder of Rural Bank of Antipolo was adamant getting the business license of the bank as he felt he was the only one applying for business license at that time. There was very little economic activity in the community. Antipolo was still a grassy area then. What kept it alive were the pilgrims from other places visiting the Virgin of Antipolo at the Cathedral. Its first SME clients were the “Magkakasuy” and “Magsusuman” who ignited economic activity in the community.
Rural Bank of Antipolo width stood the test of time amidst economic and political downturns. The conservative culture of its founder, Dr. Luisito R. Lopez and its long time Bank Manager then, the late Remedios fondly called “Ka Meding” by the taal “Antipolonians” made RBAI, the Bank it is today: stable, liquid and resilient, and ready to take on bold move to adapt to digitalization to continue serving the community of Antipolo more specially the SMEs and the unbanked.
